I've read about this on WEBBALL before, and it sounds interesting. It seems like a great way to mechanically "force" a batter to keep his hands back as long as possible in the swing.

I think this technique is a learning tool to connect the arms/hands/bat to the shoulder turn. You can't use tht or scapula loading or anything else from this position.
But it is a good starting point and once understood/felt/learned the hitter can add the proper loading before the swing, etc.
