Can anyone with knowledge of fastpitch tell me what purpose the slapping of the bat against the back serves while a batter warms up ... Those that I have saw are far from a good swing and I know some of these girls have to have black n blue marks . Is this something that is being taught or just a fad ?

He and others have taught that way for years with good results. but the travel teams are full of girls with that stupid hit your shoulder swing they pay money to learn. ??????

good joke. but you are funnier when you don't try (just kidding)
What in your opinion are the specific difference in the swings? My daughter uses a totally rotational swing U18 and HS fps and hits for average and power and has yet to meet a pitcher that can throw it by her.
Even college pitchers are mid 60MPH range (60 +) (Olympic team about 70 max). THe good college hitters are more and more rotational and hitting for average and power.
