Seeking the recipe

Posted by: Coach Jim (jimstill@comcast.net) on Tue Apr 23 18:09:03 2002

Okay - so I totally believe in what I've seen in the videotape, of which I convinced myself after videotaping a couple of weekends ago the last 2 homerun derbies of the All Star Break.

When I watched Sosa in 2000 in freeze frame, he did exactly as Jack teaches - so did Giambi in 2001, and everyone else who truly smacked the ball consistently. Stationary axis, circular hand path, front shoulder pulling back before contact to create torque...BUT, here's my question...

What is the "recipe", or sequence of drills, to get 11 and 12 year olds to "get" the concept, and burn it into their muscle memory?

Day 1, Day 2, etc., would be really appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

Coach Jim
