Well, the hips all by themselves can't move, since they are the "cup" for a ball joint...but what we teach is what we call an "Elvis" movement...for a right handed hitter, one would stride with a bent leg, then straighten the leg as you rotate the rear knee inward...by straightening the front leg, you drive the hip back at the same time you are rotating the backside of your hips forward with the rear leg around the axis of your spine...if you have ever watched a clip of Elvis...bend one leg-straighten one leg...you will see his hips rotate...and that is why we call it the "Elvis"...the kids have no clue who "Elvis" is, but I do, and they think its funny, and so they know what to do when I say do an "Elvis".
