Re: 10 yr old not swinging

"My son has great form, can hit my fast pitches and does well at the batting cages. Problem is, when he's in a game, he's not swinging. He says he wants to, but he just stands there like a deer in the headlights. Any Ideas?????"

Given his age, if I had to guess I'd say that he's afraid of being hit by the ball. He may also be having a hard time judging the trajectory of the ball when it's thrown by a kid and/or he's being too selective.

Tell him to just swing away.

Also, when you pitch to him do you throw upright or from one knee?
