Sometimes a loose grip will cause this, have him grip the bat a little tighter.

While pitching to one of the 8 yr olds, who has a good swing and always connects with the ball, the bat occasionally really stings his hands. I can't recognize what is wrong, and I am afraid he now afraid of it and not as agressive. What causes this?
