Mike. Watch Manny Ramirez swing the bat. His first move is to rotate the shoulders (and trunk muscles) back in unison with the inward turn. At that point you can see the back of his jersey which is an indication of shoulder rotatation loading and then unloading.
Try not to get too caught up into defining terms, otherwise you will not truly understand what is actually taking place.
Shoulder rotation is a beginning process. Afterward the hands come into play to finish off the process.
