I'll buy your description. It is a description of what perhaps some people sense is happening, if I read you right, as opposed to a technique. It is the result of other things happening, as opposed to being legislated, correct?

Maybe we can drill this down. I don't think it is at all useful to talk or think about ``releasing'' anything, but perhaps you also mean the point at which the tip of the implement passes in front of the handle of the implement.

In baseball batting, attempting to achieve this by any means other than keeping the hands back and oar-locked and then pulling the back shoulder towards the catcher will cause disaster.
