Hi Reed

I have charted the swings of Bonds and McGwire more than 20 times. They have basically the same mechanics as Griffey. All have a fairly straight lead arm and none of them use extension mechanics. --- They all may use the bent lead arm, as you describe, to get the meat of the bat on the ball on inside pitches. But this cost them bat speed (rate of angular displacement). It does not add to it.
