Torque at Contact

Posted by: George () on Sat Apr 28 21:38:16 2007

BHL. I believe torque at contact is more likely to occur with a hitter who is using a two handed follow through. I believe this because it is likely that the player has allowed the wrist to dominate the swing slightly by a hitter who is tophand heavy. Ex. Lou Whitaker of Darrell Evans or Joe Carter.

I believe like Ted Williams that the hands at contact are like a man holding an axe upon making contact with a tree. The hands are thus firm at contact on most occasions. The light feeling comes when the hitter makes square contact on the exact middle of the sweet spot in the bat. The lack of vibrations makes the bat feel light in my opinion.

I do believe that a misconception can result because on a so called one arm swing that results in a good hit, the batter has are ready utilized early batspeed combined with a solid weight shift. IN such case the hitter has taken advantage of optimum lead arm extension 'ala Alfonso Soriano when he is going well.
