Rotational vs Linear

Posted by: charles (crayshef@bellsouth.net) on Fri Apr 27 17:35:04 2007

Jack, I grew up playing golf instead of baseball. My sons have chosen baseball. As I have learned a little about rotational hitting it seems so similar to a transformation in golf. In the 70's and at least part of the 80's golfers were taught to drive their weight and finish high (Inverted C). This was a more linear action. Since the early 80's at least, most good players have been taught a more circular move; with the hands finishing more around the body (not high like the old inverted C) You can really see it in Tiger
Woods (talk about violent rotation). I suppose the physics of it is similar to the circular move of a rotational baseball swing. Have you noticed or studied the similarities?
