Re: Fouling Balls Straight Back

> Jack (and others who want to respond) My son has recently started fouling alot of balls straight back. I am told that is usually a good sign but he seems to be doing it too often on the best pitches to hit. A few weeks ago I moved him back in the box and am know wondering could this be causing him to miss these pitches.

>videotape an at-bat of his, pause it before his swing starts, take a ruler and hold it at his nose drawing an imaginary line across his face. then after his swing see if his head is still on the line, if not, then theres your problem. his head may be moving above or below the line causing his eyes to move. thats why hes not getting solid contact. if his eyes are moving than so is the ball to him, which makes it harder to focus on the top half/center of the ball. this whole thing could be caused by a long or late stride. please let me know what you think.kfink04@aol.com

p.s. if hes fouling fastballs back everyttime, he wont be seeing them for long pitchers will start throwing him alot of junk.
