Re: Fouling Balls Straight Back

Posted by: Chris O'Leary (chris@chrisoleary.com) on Tue Apr 24 13:49:01 2007

"Jack (and others who want to respond) My son has recently started fouling alot of balls straight back. I am told that is usually a good sign but he seems to be doing it too often on the best pitches to hit. A few weeks ago I moved him back in the box and am know wondering could this be causing him to miss these pitches."

I doubt it.

Generally, moving a guy back in the box would tend to cause him to hit the top of the ball more, not the bottom of the ball more.

I would look for something in the stride that is causing him to slide under the ball. Maybe taking too big of a stride and/or sliding the hips forward after the front heel drops.
