Yes, I suppose you are right. If you build really strong hands and forearms you can use that new-found strength to snap the bat head around after you push the knob to the ball. I would also suggest lots of arm work - biceps and triceps - so you can extend your arms hard at the pitcher before snapping your wrists.
From what I hear this is the best way to develop tremendous batspeed.
