Additional Note: this approach is not designed to create an opposite field hitter but to improve results gap to gap. My theory is rather like the pinball analogy Mike Epstein uses. If you focus on hitting the other way, you will often be timed to hit the ball square just before and not after the hands start their rollover.

I believe erring in timing--by waiting too long (and hitting opposite field) has better results than always erring on the side of being too early.
