I'd say make sure his hands are going directly at the ball. Using a hitting stick can show your son the proper direction that the hands must move in order to strike the ball most effdiently. Keeping his shoulders level is a very important facet of hitting remember as the shoulder drops so does the bat head and the hands. Hitting off a tee is a marvelous way of working out problems as is soft tossing. In addition video taping is an effective way of going over the swing frame by frame. Good luck
