> So the question will always come up as to can real power be taught. Just as some boxers have knockoout power while others have to use the jab and use more technicl skills. Some would say the power can be taught while others say you have to be born with the basic power.<

And you call yourself 'The Hitting Guru?' You cannot explain the means to generate power, so you brush it off as 'natural-born talent'.
I have read your posts, although well articulated (bringing a false sense of 'you know what you're talking about' to the reader), you have been knocking both Linear and Rotational mechanics independently.
You are not completely Linear or Rotational. You claim 'the swing' are combinations of both. You avoid any 'science' rationale of the swing, because you do not understand the Physics of motion.
I read your interpretation of 2D video footage and where the Arc or Rotation moments are present, you say that what we see is linear. Well, it would look linear in 2D.
As an Engineer in the Mechanical/Electronical field, I design mechanical components in high speed production machinery. This includes the understanding of driving systems to power motion in any particular process within the machine. The source of every machine's motion my friend will always be a rotational, gyrating, or circular solution. I have the luxury to use SW and equipment to view motion in a high speed machine in 3D and ultra slo-mo. I have used this to view myself at bat (in a cage). I can tell you, WHEN I TRY TO HIT LINEAR,
I cannot escape the rotational dominance the HUman Body automatically executes. Joints....they were deisned to swivel up-down-side to side simultaneously. Yet people like you say do not use your body's capacity to want to rotate (swivel)-allowing the change in the degree in motion- and stay linear- movement from a to b.....

Please change your call sign to The Guru, which implies you know alot about other topics except hitting.
If you feel generating power is natural-born talent, why are you so active in this forum as well as others?
Let's all just forget about scientific sport interpretation of the swing, stop wasting our time in BP, and on the weekend just put on our uniforms and play born. If there is enough natural-born talet, we may have game.
