take video during games to check if they are steping out during the stride. If this happens, they can't hit the frequent outside strike corners or hit them badly.
This is commom, because they are less concerned about deadballs during practice.
Also check if they are using different bats, or if the ball speed on games is faster.
Check a video of David Wright, Mets 3rd baseman, and study his feetwork.
