Jack, my guess is that along with Gwynn and Boggs, others like Banks, Kuehn, Aaron, Sievers, Fox, Robinson, Ripken, Mays, Clemente, Ramirez, Thomas would say that they moved their hands to the ball while rotating. They would say that the ability to find the ball and hit it with authority is most important...none would say that mph was the most important aspect of the baseball swing. Mantle, on the other hand, did strike out a lot...thousands of times. To me, Williams and Bonds are once in a lifetime athletes who can be more pure rotational than others. Most of us don't have the atletic ability to do what they do...they were able to lay off pitches, for the most part, where they could not rotate effectively...mostly middle in. All it takes for them is one pitch for them. jima
