Jimmy,
That there is some back to forward movemnt in a rotational swing is of no importance. Linear hitters try to generate power by moving from back to forward and extending his arms. A rotational hitter rotates around an axis to create power. He straightens his front leg to stop any forward movement from the stride and to cause rotation around his axis. When a skater spins to create more speed and power she brings her hands in close to her. If she extends them she never reachs maxium speed and power. Frank Thomas is no way linear
