I haven't seen as much video as I would like.My impression is that he sets up in the stance with the back foot pointed almost to the pitcher.When the pitch is inside and he needs to turn on it fast,this gives a jump start.When the pitch is middle/out,the back foot tends to assume the usual position/motion as the back knee turns forward.Try to find a clip of him crushing an inside pitch to the pull field.
