Not to disagree with you but to add, I think BHT is equivalent to changing the radius of the circle the moment of inertia of the bat is traveling on. And, I haven't seen videos where the center of the circle(s) are at the knob of the bat or on the bat.

It seems that "the path of *optimal* bat speed" may not be what we have seen on any video.
