Procut has two benefits I've seen. One, it adds weight to the bat so you can do overload training - swinging a heavier bat.
Two, the weight is near the hands. This makes it easier to feel what your hands are doing - pushing forward or staying in the circular hand path.
It also makes the bat head light. This is strange - the bat is heavier but it feels lighter and I can get swings of the same speed as an unweighted bat.
Makes you wonder if the modern thin handled bats really make sense???
