As much of the mechanics of the swing are an important part of this discussion, I was wondering if anyone can help an old summer warrior like myself find a way to develop better plate presence in order to pick up balls from the pitcher's hand. I have tinkered with open stances to improve vision, but I am concerned that the open features of my batting stance delay my bat entry into the zone of contact. I have also tried washing the back line of the batter's box to give extra time before contact. Does anyone have any advice to help me pick my balls? Thanks! JC.
