Re: Balance & Stockton Tapes

Posted by: randotex () on Fri Nov 16 13:41:46 2001

i've viewed bragg stockton's hitting tapes, & have studied techniques described on this site. i believe they teach a different technique. specifically, stockton likes the fence drill. batspeed is critical of the swing method that this drill encourages. stockton likes his hitters to throw the knob at the ball - again, i think that is different then what is shown here. that means it is a fundamentally different swing in my eyes. i don't claim to be any kind of expert, so this is just my 2 cents. i would love to see further comments on this thread.

I purchased your tape and have viewed it many times. I am trying to get my 12-year old son to develop rotational mechanics. However, he is very set in his muscle patterns, and he can't resist first lifting his front foot up then shifting his weight forward and swinging with all his might when he swings at a pitch. This seems to make him lose some of his balance at the end of his swing. Many home run hitters seem perfectly balanced after their swings.
