Hi Shawn, Tom, RQL & others

good thoughtful information but in deleting some of the hateful shear
nonsense and/or spam type posts that have appeared lately, your posts
was also inadvertently deleted. I just will not allow spiteful
rhetoric to deteriorate the board?s worth to other coaches and players.

Hi Jack,

Just finished watching game 6, lots of dysfunctional swings IMO.

The integrity of the forum and threads by far out weighs a few deleted
posts. Disagreeing on a topic is one thing, but the lack of thoughtful
and useful information with the only intent to be spiteful is (was)
out of control.

The swing is a simple process, with a complex joint/muscular system.
There is absolutely thousands (millions) of ways for the sequence to
be carried out. If we did a complex analysis with the best hitters,
EMG, pressure plates (muscle firing pattern) and angular/linear plots
of the three main segments (shoulder, hips, arms/hands). I think we
would have a nice average or percentage on how to best swing a bat.

Even with the most advanced information, there would still be much
debate in the grey areas. Hitters swing a certain way for specific
reasons and there will always be a great variation between hitters.
Sometimes I agree with Lau Sr that some hitters just want to look good
while swinging.

Mechanics are just one aspect, although this forum is based on that
aspect. I choose not to get involved in many conversations for the
simple reason of knowing how different every hitter can be, resulting
in few absolutes.

Comments made that mechanics are an act of God, or good hitters do not
work for their prize is far fetched and misleading statements. Sure,
everyone's goal is to be natural at the plate. Although even the most
natural get very unnatural sooner or later. The swing isn't a random
event such as just hitting the ball hard.

Take a break and catch game 7, :)

Shawn
