PLT vs THT

Jack. Do you believe PLT can work well for the hitter whos' dominant hand is not his top hand from a perpendicular bat position. It seemed to work well for Ted Williams, but I am not sure if it would work as well for the avg joe who starts his bat like Williams or Ruth. I notice that Bonds and Ruth have their left hand (throwing hand as the dominant hand) when applying the PLT. I studied the Yankeeography tape of Ruth and based my earlier comments with regard to his long stride on that tape. It is amazing that someone could hit a major league fastball using a bat that weighed 40 to 54 ounces. I also noticed that some of his homerun connections were made far away from the sweet spot end of the bat. But since he used hickory wood bats, the solid structure of the bat did not inhibit his results from contact away from the barrel.

I also wondered if you felt the THT without the PLT was a quicker way to the bat. From personal experience I experience a quicker swing with THT alone. But I bat left handed and my right side is much more dominant due to the fact that I bowl with my right hand. When I bat right handed I could feel myself more comfortable using the PLT when I mimicked the stance/technique of Ted Williams as opposed to trying from the left side.
