Front foot

I have a ten year old son with an execellent swing and what I believe to be an execellent, balanced stance. He occassionally has trouble loading up due to what I believe is having his hands too far forward in his stance. He therefore hits some balls to left field that he should be pulling (left handed hitter). At a pracitce the other day he told me that a coach told him to narrow his stance a little and lift his front heel off the ground and turn his front toe and knee inward.

I see many kids doing this these days and I have dubbed it "the new trend". Although I do believe that it can help certain hitters get around quicker since they are already almost cocked and loaded prior to the pitch even being made, I do not believe it is the solution for all kids, especially if they are not comfortable doing it. Does anybody have any suggestions or recommendations on this topic?
