I've been told lately that I've been striding about 1 foot which is too long. Now i've been trying to shorten my stride to 4 inches but i just can't get it down pat. Are there any drills that can help me.

It can be very difficult to break the stride habbit. Try putting something in front of you foot so you can't stride and take many, many, many swings.
