Hi Dog and Missouri,

I don't have time right now to post all the details, but I'll be showing you some info after the holidays which hopefully will clear this up once and for all (Missouri Dad- your momentum calculation was correct; the coefficient of restitution was what was missing.) You're right, the collision is inelastic. More later.
