Re: bat speed over rated??????

is bat speed over rated????? but how long does it take to get that speed.what is important in baseball top end or quickness???? you can still have a very fast bat and be late on the ball, you could have average speed and jack balls. take for example: jeff bagwel not the fastest "bat speed". he considered a power hitter, and when compared to griffey, mac ,sosa, or even nomar his bat speed does not even compare. this would be speed accuracy trade off: the fact that performers must trade-off speed in order to increase accuracy or trade-off accuracy to increase speed. would hitting the ball off the sweet spot of the bat be as important as increasing ones bat speed.how come theres never any discussions about the importants of accuracy?????? which is truly important?????????

>.>hit guy, these are good questions, but I think that the idea of the swing we have here is that when you are swinging correctly you are long on the plane of the ball while still being able to generate maximum batspeed. Much of this was discussed last yar at setpro .com before it went private.Tell me do you know what Bagwells batspeed is and where did you find this out,my guess he has plenty.I agree you can have a trade off,I think Gwynn and boggs are the example though with over 2000 inside out singles a piece.Actually in their swing I believe they move their hands further forward and their bats travel less at lesser speed but enough to hit line drives consistently.I work at hitting today still, at 41,mostly off a tee,and I can feel the difference in the swing.I believe you use your body much more dynamically in the rotation and you must focus harder on keeping your head still ,but I believe that Jack has said that a rotationary hitter can bring his bat around in a couple less frames than a linear hitter, probably because of the speed of the swing, sounds like this might be the quicker swing,I had alot of the same ques. 2.5 years ago.
