> here is a sample of some topics that each would merit considerable discussion......but yet how many of these topics have ever got more than a handful of responses?.........i think it's futile, but here is my list.......(1) mike schmidt's theory of hitting an inside pitch with rotational mechanics, the outside pitch with weightshift mechanics and the middle pitch with "hybrid" mechanics......... (2)ray porco's observations a few months ago regarding the movement of the head depending on whether you are using rotational or weightshift mechanics................... (3) the sigificance of the "lag" position.......(4) bahill's studies showing a relationship between backspin/distance ball carries and how much below center the ball is contacted........ (5) contact points depending on pitch location........(6) how much a hitter's "mass" conributes to power?......(7) how can two hitters with identical mechanics and same amount of batspeed hit the ball a longer distance than the other hitter?.........(8) if a hitter should develop a "wooden bat swing" vs. an aluminum bat swing, why does a product such as "procut" exist ? .........(9) what does "staying inside the ball" really mean?........(10) what is the difference in a "short swing" and a "long swing"?..........(11) what happened to tim olson, the black hole lexicographer and steve t?..........................but ray, if you think this board is boring, try thepitchingmound.com......that board is almost as lightweight as eteamz.com....................respectfully, grc.......
grc,
been to pitchingmound.com - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
aside from the fact that you must give up your life's history in order to post, i didn't see any value (to poster's, at that site, and to me) in posting. perhaps this attitude is a bit selfish (maybe, alot) but if i can't get anything out of a conversation, discussion, debate, exchange, etc. then i quickly become bored. i guess that's why i lose patience with poster's who think they can get easy answers to hard questions. poster's that ask questions without first putting in the time to read past posts on the subject of choice. poster's who don't know how, or are not willing, to research. i can guess (pretty accurately) the size of your hitting library and video recordings, grc. i can also, as accurately, guess the size of other's. how about the guy that posted:

easy fix. no thanks. probably never hear from again.
oh well, enough!
11 bits and pieces.
how about no. 1, for now?
i know you like schmidt. and the big questions, when anyone refers to his book/system, is "how do you pull it off?", "how can you manage to have enough time to think, choose which type of swing, and then execute?"
i think the answer, is answered by schmidt himself, "I'm saying that this combination movement evolved into a style all its own from all the physical and mental data I accumulated over my entire career. I didn't do the combining, IT JUST HAPPENED." [page 50, "the Mike Schmidt Study"].
questions for you, grc. how do you TEACH it? can you TEACH it?
the book's value lies in the fact that it plants a seed. gives a different perspective. stimulates thought processes.
it also stirs debate.
can't says that i agree with nary a thing on pages 85 thru 90.
"Lesson 3: Hand Action".
explain that to me, will ya?
yours in baseball,
ray porco
