Normally this is a result of ball placement in relationship to the swing of the hitter. The correct position would be to place the Tee at the same position relative to the plate as he would normally hit the ball when swinging at it being pitched: inside pitch - out front and on the inside corner so he can pull the ball down the line; outside pitch - about 8" on the plate on the outside corner so he can hit to the opposite field; middle of plate - a little on the plate and in the middle of the plate so he can hit back up the middle. This depends somewhat on where he is setting up in relation to the plate. The JUGS FIVE POINT HITTING TEE appears to have an idea of ball placement.
