If you are going to spend all that time coaching kids, you might as well spend a little time this winter reading. :-) Probably enjoy coaching that much more next spring. Good luck and good reading.

>frank....what is the age group of the kids you teach?......my personal opinion is that prior to high school, there's too many other things to teach and with limited time, and with one exception it would be highly unproductive to get into weightshift vs. rotation......that one exception would be to at least avoid the obvious perils of linear hitting, such as the fence drill....even at the high school level, i have first-hand knowledge that coaches will simply teach certain techniques they learned from a coaching clinic , taking the information they got at face value and gospel.....the most that i would do at the high school level is to present the pros and cons, then leave it up to the kids to look into it deeper on their own time if they so desire.....i could be wrong, but i'm guessing that many at this site are either players who want to learn or dads who want to learn in order to help their own sons.......however, i don't think the rotation vs. weight shift thing is something that is conducive to group teaching, particularly at the younger age levels...........i hope that somewhere in all of this you get the answer you are looking for.......respectfully, grc.......
