Swing time

Hi Jack,

I always enjoy your insight. I'll try to remind myself to put something together to review hand movement forward.

Here's an article that might be helpful to the poster,

Jack, I have looked at how long it takes to actually swing a bat many times. It's very helpful when reviewing a swing. Lets go with Bonds (like the article). The article states it takes 150 ms (5 frames), after the first 50 ms you can't check the swing. Taking roughly 100 ms to arc the bat (3 frames).

This is roughly in your area of 4-6 frames to swing (frames aren't an exact science, like trying to sync different hitters and contact). If we take THT as the first 50 ms area and initiation to contact as the 100 ms (arc) it works rather nicely. Falls right inbetween your 4-6 frames. Sometimes I think Bonds can hit the 2 frame range.

I have a clip of Bonds that follows the articles timing and will post it later.

Thanks,
Shawn
