I mention those motions because those are athletic motions...Just like hitting...You are not thinking like an athlete. Swinging a bat is an athletic motion...All athletic motion follows the same principles, and involves a certain use of the lower and upper halves.

A shot put motion follows a similar sequence to hitting. The end goal is to achieve optimal velocity at release. In hitting, it's making contact at optimal velocity. To create optimal hand velocity at contact, there must be an efficient launch sequence that involves an active lower half. It is absolutely possible to emphasize the hands and de-emphasize the lower body and achieve good batspeed and control, but it is poison to try eliminate the lower half all together...

In Golf, many long-driving competitors are actually former track and field athletes who know how to time their power efficiently. All swinging and throwing actions have the same component of athleticism...
