lefty or righty?

I just finished my sixth year coaching my daughters softball team. The last two have been with ASA, and we usually start practicing in september for next spring. Last year her batting average dropped from about .350 to .250 with an OBP of about .450.
I have read, but can't remember where, that a right handed thrower will make a better left handed batter, because the power arm and hand (right) become the lower hand on the bat when batting left handed. Does this make any sense? Is there any truth to that at all?
I heard this earlier this year but did not want to change her batting untill after we were done for the year. Now we have the rest of the summer and all winter to try it, if it makes sense.
