Re: Joe A-Where Are You?

Mr.A: It seems like the same people post over and over. While I find their views interesting, I would like to find out your views on some of the issues. For example, where do you stand on top hand torque, circular hand path, fence drill, long swing, stride & no-stride, swinging up versus swinging down, etc?

Herman,

Hau doooin? I don't have a lot of thoughts on some aspects of the swing that other people delve into in great detail. I think we can over analyzem, over coach and just over do.

Many of the mechanics that some focus a lot of attention on and study and try to teach happen without having to be taught.

For example the old "crush the bug" thingy. No one should teach this. Its the result of something else- Turning the hips. You turn your hips you crush the bug. Teaching the result is really harmful.

I think that the "crushing the bug" leads to turning the hips and the shoulders together. This stops the body from developing torque and lessens power.

So, I don't have a lot to say about this stuff.

But, thanks for asking.

Joe A.
