I strongly disagree with this statement. The front foot is not what keeps the front shoulder in. The resisance applied behind the batter by the bat turning back on plane and accelerating back to the catcher keeps the front side it.

Attempts to keep the shoulder in with a closed front foot reduces mid section torque
