Re: A 48 yr. old and rotational mechanics

Over the past few years, my 12 yr old and I have had many workouts late into the night on our LL field. Occasionally, stiff old Dad has taken the bat for some swings to show that hitting a baseball is a skill that never totally leaves a player. I usually did fine- mostly line drives, no popups and an occasional threat of hitting it out some 200-215 away. But never out of the yard. Like I said, stiff ol' Dad. (Am also built like a runner, not Big Mac) But recently, I discovered this site and have come to the realization that I (we) have been doing linear mechanics. Anyway, after studying the frame-by frame swing here, thought I'd attempt a crude facsimile at the ol' park last nite. I'm sure it was very crude, but in 13 pitches with my new wooden bat, there was a nice mixture of hard(er) grounders, liners, and 6 big ones that ended up on the Babe Ruth field- 3 of which landed in the BR infield. I can now retire. We'll be getting the videos. (The only bad part is how difficult it was getting the old runners hips out of bed this morning.) Thanks, Jack!

Hey, where was this website when we were growing up? I could have been a contender, instead of a coach, which is what I am.....
