> I dont understand why everyone stresses to force your lower half of your body into your swing. Even on this website it says legs first. But I dont get. I definently am not saying that I disagree what this website teaches, but I just dont understand it. Even Tony Gywnn said, "Alot of guys try to force their lower body thru the zone, and you dont have to. All you have to do is get in a good position take the bottom hand and pull it thru and guess what, the rest of it just goes." Can someone tell me that if Tony Gwynn, one of the best hitters ever, is telling us that we dont have to force the lower body into the swing, then why are we saying that we have to? I would really appreciate it if you could help me out.

Regardless of the way people thing about their swing, the hip DO rotate before the shoulders. Hitters like Gwynn can feel like they are doing one thing when the reality is quite different. Tony Gwynn was a great hitter, but he is not very well informed when it comes to swinging a bat. He just repeats what he was told as a player...
A hitter can try to not "force the lower body" and be very successful. Different thoughts work for different hitters. But all hitters do rotate their hips before their shoulders. Try this link...

The hips rotate a good 30 degrees or so before the upper body.
Maybe "forcing the lower body" is simply not a good thought. All that really matters is that you actually DO the right thing, not that you think the right thing. Whatever gets you to look like David Wright's clip...
