barrel of the bat relative to the hands

I just saw a post at baseball excellence.com that advised keeping the barrel of the bat above the hands as part of several steps to prevent dropping the back shoulder. Doesn't sound right to me. Unless you're swinging at a very high pitch, the barrel of the bat will go below hands---I think.

Am I wrong?
