Hey Plankspanker, I just went thru this. Mini-Dv with shutter speed set 1/2000 works great on outside(sunny) days. You can really see the ball clearly in slow mo. I just picked a panasonic up on ebay for about $55. My 450.00 JVC harddisk JVC was recording in a non compatible format... Hope this helps.
