Re: Shoulder Drop!

Posted by: () on Tue Jun 26 06:29:28 2001

I need the quickest fix to a 9 yr old player that has a habit of dropping his rear shoulder & swinging under the ball. He has been elected a Allstar due to his defensive play but his coach had not worked with him on his hitting. It reminds me of a coach that backs a player up in the box in P. Machine so he can hit the low ball & get lift. Also like raising the T in T-ball League. I only have a few days to work with him before our first game, any suggestions.

Having no idea what this kid looks like swinging a bat you could line him up to a fence with the fence close behind him (catcher postion). If he swings and drops the bat head he will hit the fence. This would be a temprary fix and I would not use it to teach rotational hitting long term.
