jumping at pitches

How do you get a youth to stop jumping out at pitches? What I mean is my 10 year old does not wait, sit back and let ball come to him and as a result he is out on (or over) his front foot. How do I get him to trust his hands ..... let the ball come to him? He makes contact but weak. What can I do or try to correct this????
