Re: Only power when pulled foul
I have been there with my son. His problem was timming. He could hit good fastball but when slow pitching was seen he pulled everything. Most of the time foul or off the end of the bat.
We went back to the heavy bag. Did the soft toss to the bag. Then went to the cage. Nothing but slow pitching to him on the outside part of the plate. When he could hit the ball where it was pitched with some pop. Then the speed increased.
I am a firm beliver that where you stand in the box stays. You dont move up in the box or back. You make the adjustments on the swing not the postion of the feet. I always feel that the batter should be with one foot in front of the plate and one behind. Anything else is giving the pitcher more advantage.
Have you set up and tee on the outside part of the plate in the correct contact zone for outside pitch. See if he can hit it to right field or if he is trying to hit around the ball. By throwing the top hand?
