Jack -

I think your explanation for in vs out adjustment by direction of THT application is by far the best explanation of how this adjusment should be done.

The longer you load the hands up and in, the more you stretch the lead arm and scap and the more you prepare for a longer swing radius swing with more THT at initiation to keep from falling behind the power curve.

I think you can see the back elbow starts down sooner and slots in closer for in vs out in the Soriano clips as well as in these Aaron clips:
