Andy,

Please try this (in slow-mo at first):

Hold your hands at your rear shoulder during your STANCE. During your STRIDE, bend over (from the waist) so that your spine is tilted toward the plate. Now just TURN your shoulders, maintaining the same relationship to your shoulders at which your hands started during your stance.

Isn't THAT another way to get the bat down there w/o dropping your hands?
