He's taking a long stride, if that's what you mean by linear movement. But you'll notice, his swing doesn't start until the front foot is planted at which time you can see he clearly rotates about an axis from his head through his spine (and into the ground). Rotational hitters can take a stride but their rotation doesn't start until the front foot lands.
