Hi Softball Dad

I have seen this problem many times and it almost always goes back to the hitter having a casting problem with their hands and then swinging the bat around their body. What this creates is a swing that has the end of the bat makes a big circular motion around the body so that the only time that the 'meat of the bat' is in the hitting area of the ball the bat is angled to pull the ball foul. She has a circular hand path but it is in too wide of a circle.

Casting of the hands away from the body can be caused by not loading the hands and leaving the hands too far away from the body at the start of the swing or by loading the hands by turning the shoulders away from the pitcher and then as the shoulders rotate back the hands are forced away from the body in a wide arc. There are a couple other reasons that she maybe doing this but these are the most common.

Hope this helps

Dave P
